FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga - the Emmanuel College men's volleyball team defeated Lees-McRae on Friday night. The 3-1 win was their first conference victory, bringing them to 1-3 in the conference and 4-5 overall.
The Lions 50 kills outnumbered the Bobcats 36, despite getting out-blocked 11-5.
The first set saw a back and forth exchange before the Lions cruised ahead to a 25-18 victory. The second set was led primarily by Lees-McRae, until the Lions rallied for a 7-1 run, winning the set 25-19.
Lees-McRae took over in the third set, leading the entire way to a 25-20 win. However, the Lions bounced back in a hard fought fourth set, the 26-24 final score being the narrowest margin of the game.
The Lions were led by Junior Don Thompson, who's .400 hitting percentage resulted in 17 kills. Thompson also had a service ace, 4 block assists, and a solo block, altogether contributing 21 points to the Lions offense.
Next up, the Lions will take on the King Tornado at 2pm on Saturday, February 2nd.
