Rock Hill, SC - The Lions traveled to Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina for their second meet of the season. Coming off of a team victory in the first meet of the season, the men toed the line with some NCAA Division I, II, and NAIA programs. As the gun went off, the Lions set a great tempo for the early pace of the race. Jacob Burgamy came through the first mile in the lead pack, followed closely by Urias Velasquez and Jose Diaz. Juwan Lamar and Andrew Mills rounded out the top five runners for Emmanuel. Freshman Aldo Espino stepped up and ran a great 8k debut to be the sixth man for EC. "I'm super pleased with how our guys stepped up and competed today," said Coach Hall.

Burgamy crossed the finish line first for the Lions, taking third place overall in the Non-Division I competition. Velasquez and Diaz finished 6th and 7th respectively, followed by Juwan Lamar and Andrew Mills (25th and 29th), making up the scoring five runners for Emmanuel, winning the Garnet (Non-Division I) section of the meet.
With their team performance, the Lions have officially qualified for the NCCAA Cross Country Championships in Clinton, MS.
Look to see Emmanuel take the top seven runners and head to Louisville, KY for the Greater Louisville Classic on October 1st.
