10/7/16 – Royals XC Challenge
Rain or shine, the Men's Cross Country team takes to the course in Charlotte for the Queens University Royals XC Challenge. Despite a fair amount of rain over the several hours prior to the start of the race, the course was still in great shape and ready for several hundred runners.
Jose Diaz was the number one runner for Emmanuel, running a lifetime personal best for cross country and nearly breaking 26:00 for 8k (26:02). "Jose really got out and competed early on to put himself in a pack of the race to help him run well. He didn't settle and get complacent and earned a personal best for his efforts," praised Coach Hall. "This is a great confidence boost for several guys in our top seven going into championship season."
Juwan Lamar and Aldo Espino both ran lifetime personal bests today in Charlotte, Juwan breaking 27:00 and Aldo dipping under 29:00. Andrew Mills was only three seconds off of his lifetime best and over a minute faster than his previous season best, running 28:05.
The Lions will train up and be ready to get back after it October 22nd for the Sand Shark Invitational and NCCAA Region Championships in Hardeeville, South Carolina.
