The men's cross country team toed the line on this morning for their final meet of the regular season at the Sand Shark Invitational in Hardeeville, South Carolina. It was a perfect morning for a race with temperatures in the low to mid-fifties and a dry course. This meet served as the NCCAA South Region Championships for the seven team division.

The men got out to a very strong start, coming through the first mile in very competitive position, in the mix with some strong NAIA programs. Sophomore Jose Diaz led the way again for the team, clocking the 8,000 meters in 26:08, good enough for 21st place overall. Jose was followed by fellow sophomores Juwan Lamar (26:40) and Madison Duggan (26:57), both running lifetime bests! Sophomore Andrew Mills ran very well to place fourth for the team, running 28:06, only a few seconds off of his lifetime best. Freshman Aldo Espino rounded out the scoring team of top five runners with a 30:09.
"I'm proud of the way we got out strong and competed early on to put ourselves in good position to finish well," praised Coach Hall. "We wanted to compete with the NCCAA competition and I think we did a good job of that today."
This performance was good enough to win the NCCAA South Region Championship portion of the meet, besting the six other teams within the division. The top seven runners will now train and prepare for the NCCAA National Championship meet in Jackson, Mississippi on November 12th.
