Franklin Springs, GA - On Saturday afternoon the Emmanuel Lady Lions faced off against the Columbia Koalas in a double header event. After a dead first inning the Koalas, Rebecca Prosser, homered bringing in Anna Davis for 2 RBI in the top of the 2nd inning. The Lady Lions finally broke their silence, bottom of the third as Cheyenne Galloway singled up the middle and Kalen Callaway doubled, bringing in Galloway and finally put a run up on the board leaving the score Koalas up 2-1. Nearing the end Lady Lion, Crystal Busbee started a rally with a two run homerun bringing in pinch runner Aubree Thacker. From there Madison Hopper singled to center, Kara Hembree singled, and Cheyenne Galloway singled to center field. On a wild pitch Halle Cheek, runner for Madison Hopper scored bringing the lady lions up 4-2. Columbia fought back scoring 3 runs and taking the lead again 5-4; however, bottom of the 7th Kirsten Hill and Jorden Williams doubled tying the game up. In the last leg Jessica Allen singled to short stop bringing in Jorden to win the game 6-5. Coach Kacey Alexander commented how "it was a great effort. Our offence worked together, each batter doing their job, and getting runners across the plate when we needed it most." Key contributors include Kara Hembree going 3-4 and Cheyenne Galloway going 2-4.
Pumped from the first game, the Lady Lions Jessica Allen homered in the 2nd, bringing in Kirsten Hill for a 2-0 lead against the Koalas. After quieting down for a few innings the Lady Lions came back for more in the bottom of the 6th as Kalen Calloway doubled to center field to bring in Cheyenne Galloway. Later on that inning Jessica Allen stepped up again hitting to right field bringing in both Kirsten Hill and Kalen Callaway pushing the Lions lead to 5-0. Key contributors include Kirsten Hill going 2-2 and Jessica Allen who had 3RBIs.
