Cleveland, GA - On Friday, February 26th, the Emmanuel Lady Lions traveled to Truett-Mcconnell to face off in a double header event. In game one, the Truett Bears came out strong scoring in the bottom of the second inning off a few rough plays by the Lady Lions. The Bears continued to keep hammering runs each inning with another run in the 3rd, two in the 4th, and two last runs in the 5th. Out of character, the Lady Lions left the Bears unanswered for the rest of the match and ended with a loss. Overall the Lions had 6 hits and 1 walk but failed to string together enough to pull it through.
In the second game the Lady Lions came out strong as Kara Hembree singled from a bunt, advanced from Cheyenne Galloway's SAC bunt, and finally scored after Madison Franklin singled to right center. The Bears bottom of the 4th strung together a couple hits to score their first run but ended up leaving two on base. Top of the 6th inning the Lady Lions came back looking for more. A wild pitch put Halle Cheek on base and Kara Hembree with a bunt to third moved Cheek over. Galloway singled down the line to bring in Cheek; however, the Bears quickly answered back with another run in the bottom of the 6th but were soon shut down. Top of the 7th the Lady Lions finally got their momentum back as Kirsten Hill and Jorden Williams, both double, Jessica Allen reached on error and Crystal Busbee singled but advanced to third on another error; overall scoring 3 runs. A pass ball brought Busbee in for a 6-4 lead. In the final moments Truett-Mcconnell collapsed under the pressure and failed to score. Final score 6-4.
Key Contributors include: Kirsten Hill and Jorden Williams both with doubles. Cheyenne Galloway, Madison Franklin, and Jessica Allen with RBIs. Pitcher Erin Harden with 10 strikeouts.
