Lady Lions Split with GSU Hurricanes

 Americus, GA - The Emmanuel Lady Lions took on the GSU Hurricanes for a double header event. In game one the Lady Lions came out strong as Kara Hembree singled down the leftfield line and Cheyenne Galloway laid a sacrifice bunt to move her over. Kalen Callaway then singled to the SS and Kirsten Hill reached on a fielder's choice to bring in Hembree. The Canes quickly responded to score two runs. 2-1 Canes.

Top of the 3rd Kalen Callaway singled to start a rally and Kirsten Hill doubled down the leftfield line to bring Callaway in and tie the score. Jorden Williams then walked and Crystal Busbee singled to bring Hill in. Halle Cheek continued the rally by singling to the SS and bring in Williams for another run for the Lions. Kara Hembree then singled to bring in Busbee and Cheyenne Galloway singled to center field to bring in Cheek and Hembree. After that Kalen Callaway walked loading the bases again and Madison Franklin walked to bring in Hembree. 7-2 Lady Lions.

Unanswered the Lady Lions continue to score in the bottom of the 4th when Jorden Williams singled down the left field line and then Halle Cheek doubled to center field to bring in Williams. 8-2 Lady Lions. The Hurricanes finally strung a few runs together to score two more and bring the score to 8-4.

Top of the 5th the Lady Lions continue to press on as Cheyenne Galloway reached on an error and Kalen Callaway singled. After that Madison Franklin walked and Kirsten Hill was hit by a pitch to bring in Galloway. Jessica Allen then reach on an error by the SS to bring in Callaway. Continuing the rally Halle Cheek reached on an error which would score Hill and Franklin. Kara Hembree would then walk and freshman Cheyenne Galloway doubled bringing in Allen, Cheek, and Hembree. With the score 15-4, the Lady Lions got the last three outs to end the game early and run rule the Hurricanes.

The Lions finished with 13 total hits. Key Players include: doubles from Cheyenne Galloway, Kirsten Hill, and Halle Cheek. RBI's from Kara Hembree, Cheyenne Galloway, Madison Frankin, Kirsten Hill, Jessica Allen, Crystal Busbee, and Halle Cheek. Erin Harden also had 10 strike outs in 5 innings.

In game two both teams battled hard keeping the score 0-0 until bottom of the 6th when the Hurricanes finally pulled out their first run with a couple hits and a few errors by the Lady Lions.  Canes would hold the Lions at that and end up winning the game 1-0. Pitcher Erin Harden for the Lady Lions continued to throw another great game with 3 more strike outs; a total of 13 for the day in 11 innings. 

The Lady Lions will play Wednesday, March 9th @ Albany State at 1:00pm and 3:00pm and Friday, March 11th @ Judson at 4:00pm & 6:00pm.
