Softball Goes 1-1 at Columbus State

COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Emmanuel College softball team split games against Columbus State on Wednesday afternoon, bringing their record to 11-14 overall, 1-3 in conference.

Game #1

The first game remained scoreless until the top of the sixth inning. The Lions started out with a strikeout before Ryanne White walked to first. A pop up to first base would follow, giving the Cougars two outs. Mary Baxter was then put on first after being hit by the pitch, advancing White. Noelle Petty followed up with a single to load the bases. Finally, Harlee Ingram doubled down the left field line bringing in both Baxter and White before the Lions third out.

The Cougars would score one run in the bottom of the sixth before the Lions closed out the game, 2-1.

In addition to Petty and Ingram's hits, Mary Baxter recorded 2 while Isabelle Petty and Alexis Costlow each added 1.

Game #2

The Lions were unable to score in the second game, resulting in a 9-0 loss. Sydney Driver, Morgan Franklin, and Noelle Petty were the sole Lions to record any hits.

Next up, the Lions will travel to Converse College on Saturday, March 23rd for another conference game.
