FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA - The Emmanuel College Women's Basketball team have rebounded from two losses this week to claim a 71-58 victory over Lees-McRae College on Saturday afternoon. The Lions honored Senior Alesia Fagin, who was unable to play after receiving knee surgery two weeks ago for an ACL injury sustained during the season. The first quarter proved to be an even battle, EC down just one point at the first break. The second quarter continued with much of the same, the lead continuing to change back and forth as both teams fought to gain the upper hand. Emmanuel came out of the half time break hungry and ready to play, outscoring Lees-McRae by 6 to gain a small advantage heading into the final term. Elise Coberly sunk a 3-pointer just 9 seconds into the final quarter to get the Lion fans roaring, and from there they continued to forge ahead, to eventually take a 13 point victory. Emmanuel didn't have the most impressive 3-pt percentage for the match (4-14), but were consistent from the free-throw line (15-18), and had 36 points in the paint compared to Lees-McRae's 16. Elise Coberly had a double-double for the Lions with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Coberly is currently ranked third in conference for rebounds per game, third for 3-pt percentage and fourth for points per game. Reynolds had 14 and 7 for the match, while Trombley had 13 and 4. Addie McNeely had 11 points and 6 rebounds from the bench, and is ranked second in conference for 3-pt percentage. Emmanuel are now 13-7 in Conference Carolina's play, and 17-9 overall. Emmanuel will take the court again on Tuesday evening at the Jack and Jane Shaw Athletic Center, where they play Erskine College at 5:30pm.
