Wilson, NC - The Emmanuel Women's Basketball team has finished their regular season on a high after a 3 point overtime victory over Barton College. The Lions got off to a quick start, piling on the points to hit a 9 point lead at the first break. A change of pace saw the Bulldogs cut the lead in the second quarter, after they outscored the Lions by 5 points. The Lions accuracy at the line helped them regain control in the 3rd quarter, before the Bulldogs came storming home to end the game 61-61. Emmanuel dominated the first few minutes of overtime, with Avery Scarbrough and Timia Reynolds leading the way. The Lions had a 10 point lead before the Bulldogs made a last minute comeback, but even with 4 points conceded in the last 14 seconds of the game the Lions were able hold on for the victory. Mikayla Trombley and Timia top scored for the Lions with 14 points, while Elise Coberly had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Addie McNeely and Kristy Mason both had strong performance with 10 points apiece. Emmanuel led in both free throw percentage and field goal percentage. The win moves Emmanuel back into fourth place, with a 14-8 conference record. Emmanuel will not be competing in the Conference Carolina's Championship this year as the College is still in the probationary phase of the NAIA-NCAA transition, but the Lady Lions will be eligible for the NCCAA South Region Tournament which starts Thursday March 10 with a schedule to come. The Lions finished with an overall record of 18-10 for the 2015-16 Season.
