Lady Lions have a sweeping victory over Bob Jones

Greenville, SC- The Emmanuel Women's Basketball Team played against Bob Jones. The Ladies pulled out a sweeping victory with the score being 80-49. Our top scorers of the night were Reynolds, Coberly, and Trombley.

Timia Reynolds started the first quarter out strong by putting up the first two points of the game. Bob Jones put up the first 3-pointer of the evening, but Mikayla Trombley scored her first two points of the night and was followed by Timia Reynolds with her next two. Mikayla Trombley was fouled and made both of her free throws, which now brought the score to 8-3 with the Lady Lions up by five. The Ladies scored back to back and would include four points by Avery Scarbrough and five back to back points by Timia Reynolds. The ladies how had a whopping 14-point lead against Bob Jones. Bob Jones tried to make a comeback and due to some fouls by the Lions they bridged the gap some, but the Lions were still up 23-15 at the end of the quarter.

The second quarter started out with multiple back-to-back substitutions for both teams. Elise Coberly scored her first 3-pointer of the game bringing the score 26-20. Mikayla Trombley made a jump shot and followed up making her first 3-pointer of the game. Elise Coberly brought the Ladies to a 12-point lead with her second 3-pointer of the game. The Lady Lions were soon at a 16-point lead which was their biggest lead this far into the game. Timia Reynolds put up seven points consecutively to help them get there. Avery Scarbrough added two more points to that lead. Bob Jones turned over the ball and Taylor Delasbour got an offensive rebound from a missed 3-pointer and scored the final two points of the half. Those final two points would bring the score to 45-25, with Bob Jones trailing the Lions by twenty.

To start out the second half, Elise Coberly scored the first seven points, including her third 3-pointer of the game. Avery Scarbrough added another two points to the board before Bob Jones scored a single point in the half so far. The Lions now led Bob Jones 54-25. Bob Jones scored a 3-pointer, Timia Reynolds scored four points for the Lions which would now bring them to a 30-point lead. Taylor Delasbour scored the last point of the quarter with a free throw bringing the score to 59-33.

The Lady Lions were ecstatic about their lead over Bob Jones, but they still came out shooting strong. Marina Moreno Bendal scored her first two points of the game in the first second of the game. Genesis Jones made her first 3-pointer of the game, which brough the lions to a 31-point lead. A few fouls by the Lions allowed Bob Jones to add a few more points to the board, which brought the score to 64-40. Ashlyn Loudermilk put up four more points on the board. The Lions were now up 68-40, not their biggest lead of the game but still a huge advantage. Bob Jones fouled and Jenesai Mohommed made her free throw followed by a layup by Sydney Nash. Jewel Montisano scored her first 3-pointer of the game. Sydney Nash was fouled twice by Bob Jones and added two more points to the board bringing the score 76-49. Ajah Taylor scored her first two points and was followed by Sydney Nash who scored the final two points of the game. The final score between the Lady Lions and Bob Jones was 80-49.

The Emmanuel Women's Basketball Team now holds a 3-4 overall record, with a 2-2 conference record. The Ladies will play at back at Emmanuel on Thursday Nov. 15th against Pfeiffer. That game will begin at 2:00 P.M.
