The Lady Lions Defeat Pfieffer Falcons

Franklin Springs, Ga- The Emmanuel College Lady Lions went up against the Pfeiffer Falcons this afternoon. The Lions were victorious in their game with a final score of 52-60. The points were pushed by Timia Reynolds and Elise Coberly. Coberly also had the most rebounds of the game.  

The first quarter started out with a few missed shots by the Lady Lions, but the first points were put up by Mikayla Trombley with her first 3-pointer of the night. Elise Coberly made her first 3-pointer of the night next and was followed by a layup by Timia Reynolds. Mikayla Trombley was fouled and made both of her free throws. Timia Reynolds then stole the ball from the Falcons and added two points to the board. Genesis Jones and Ashlyn Loudermilk were both fouled and made all their free throws to end the first quarter with the score at 10-16.

The second quarter started out with Sydney Nash scoring her first points of the game. Taylor Delasbour added the next six points to the board, including a free throw and her first 3-pointer of the game to bring the Lady Lions to have an 11-point lead. Elise Coberly made two back-to-back 3-pointers bringing the Lady Lions to a 16-point lead. The Falcons played good defense against the Ladies and tried to regain the lead, but they could not pull it out. Avery Scarbrough put up two more points and Timia Reynolds charged down the court to score the final two points of the half. The ladies were now up 20-34.

The third quarter started out with fouls on both sides of the court. Timia Reynolds was the first to get fouled for the Lions and made both of her free throws. The Falcons started to come back some shortening the gap between the two by bringing the score to 28-36. Timia Reynolds and Sydney Nash both added two points to the board. Ashlyn Loudermilk blocked a shot by the Falcons and was then fouled. She made one of her free throws. Timia Reynolds then stole the ball from the Falcons, charged down the court and was fouled. Timia Reynolds made one of her free throws. Taylor Delasbour blocked a shot from the Falcons which was recovered by Ashlyn Loudermilk who passed the ball to Timia Reynolds which was put up for two points. This would end the third quarter with the score 34-46.

Mikayla Trombley started out the fourth quarter with a layup. Genesis Jones stole the ball from the Falcons, but no points were scored by the Ladies. Stealing the ball next was Taylor Delasbour and made a layup with it. Scoring her first 3-pointer of the night was Genesis Jones, which brought the Ladies lead up to 39-53. The Falcons closed in on the Lions getting the score to 48-55. The Lions scored, but the fouled the Falcons to let them gain two more points. Elise Coberly and Avery Scarbrough were both fouled with a few seconds left in the game. Elise Coberly made both of her free throws and Avery Scarbrough made one of hers. The Falcons missed 3-pointer would end the game with the Lady Lions winning 52-60.

The Lady Lions now hold an overall record of 4-4, with a conference record of 3-2. They are now off for Christmas Break and will return to play away against Belmont Abbey. That game will begin at 2:00 P.M.
