The Lady Lions Fought Hard Against Limestone

Franklin Springs, G.A.- The Emmanuel Women's Basketball Team played in a conference game against Limestone College today. The ladies fought against the Saints, but unfortunately lost with a final score 64-53. The top scorers for the women's game were Mikayla Trombley, Timia Reynolds, and Elise Coberly.

The first quarter began with Timia Reynolds putting up the first two points on the board. She was assisted by Avery Scarbrough with her next shot. Timia Reynolds came right back and scored her first 3-pointer of the game, with an assist by Mikayla Trombley. Mikayla Trombley tied the game up with a layup, but the ladies lost the lead. The first quarter ended with the Lady Lions down 23-13.
With a small break, the second quarter started out with Elise Coberly snagging a defensive rebound and scoring two points. She was fouled and made her one free throw. The ladies stopped the Saints from scoring and gained many defensive rebounds. Taylor Delasbour broke the silence by adding two points to the board. Timia Reynolds was fouled by the Saints and made both of her free throws. Mikayla Trombley broke through and made her first 3-pointer of the game, which would end the first half with a final score of 32-23.
 
The ladies came out strong in the third quarter. Avery Scarbrough put up two points in the first thirty seconds. She was followed by Mikayla Trombley who also added two points to the board. Lochlain Corliss was on fire with her defense. She was stealing and blocking the Saints all during the third quarter. Elise Coberly added four points to the board including two free throws. Ashlyn Loudermilk was the last Lady Lion to score in the third quarter. The Ladies made a huge comeback bringing the score up to 40-37.
 

The fourth quarter started out slow for both teams. Elise Coberly was the first to score for the Lions. The ladies were still down by four points, but Avery Scarbrough shrunk that gap by adding two more points to the board. The ladies were only down by two, but Limstone came back and increased their lead. The Lions were down 54-41 when Mikayla Trombley grabbed an offensive rebound and was fouled. She made both of her free throws and came back with her second 3-pointer of the game. Mikayla Trombley came right back and scored her third 3-pointer of the game. Lochlain Corliss put the final two points up for the Lady Lions. The game ended with a final score of 64-53.

 

The Lady Lions now hold an overall 5-6 record, with a conference record of 4-4. Their next game will be away at Mount Olive on Saturday, January 11th. That game will begin at 2:00 P.M.
