The Lady Lions Take a Hard Loss Against Mt. Olive

Mount Olive, N.C.- The Emmanuel Lady's Basketball Team took on the Mount Olive Trojans in a Conference game. The Lady Lions played a good game, but were not able to pull out a win against Mount Olive. TImia Reynolds carried the team with having the most rebounds and scoring 17-points for the game.

 

The game started out with Timia Reynolds putting up the first two points and she was followed by Mikayla Trombley. The ladies were down by four points when Timia Reynolds put up two more points. Mikayla Trombley came through with her first 3-pointer of the game which brought the ladies down by one. Tima Reynolds gained the lead for the ladies after Elise Coberly snagged a defensive rebound. Genesis Jones made her first 3-pointer of the game. Elise Coberly made a jump shot to tie the game up 16-16. With a tied game, the quarter was coming to a close, but the Trojans scored once more to gain the lead with a final score of 16-19.

 

 A minute and a half into the second quarter Elise Coberly made a jump shot in attempt to regain the lead. Sydney Nash made her first 3-pointer of the game with an assist from Ashlyn Loudermilk. With five minutes left in the quarter, Timia Reynolds put up a layup followed by Taylor Delasbour with a a jump shot. Elise Coberly put up two points after grabbing an offensive rebound from her own shot. Avery Scarbrough brought the first half to a close with a layup bringing the final score up to 29-41.

 

Elise Coberly put up a 3-pointer to start out the second half of the game strong. The ladies were focusing on defense and there was minimal scoring on both sides of the court. Ashlyn Loudermlk broke through and rebounded her own shot to put up two points on the board. Timia Reynolds scored the next three points which included a completed free throw. Timia Reynolds and Avery Scarbrough fought through and put up two points a-piece. Lochlain Corliss brought the score up with her first 3-pointer of the game. The final score for the third quarter was 44-54.

 

Sydney Nash started the fourth quarter with a jump shot. Timia Reynolds was fouled by the Trojans and made both of her free throws. Taylor Delasbour was next to be fouled and made one of her free throws. Timia Reynolds rebounded her own shot and put up two points. Avery Scarbrough snagged a rebound, charged down the court and made a jump shot. Mikayla Trombley was fouled and made one of her free throws. Lochlain Corliss scored last for the Lady Lions bringing the final score to 62-79.

 

The Emmanuel Lady Lions now have an overall record of 5-7, with a conference record of 4-5. The ladies will play their next game at Pfeiffer on Monday Jan. 16th. That game will begin at 5:30 P.M.
