The Lady Lions Victorious Over Converse College

Franklin Springs, G.A.- The Emmanuel Women's Basketball Team played at home tonight and gained a victory over Converse College. The Lady Lions top scorers were Mikayla Trombley, Timia Reynolds, and Lochlain Corliss. Elise Coberly snagged the most rebounds tonight.

Timia Reynolds put up the first points for the Lady Lions. Lochlain Corliss followed putting up her first 3-pointer of the game. Converse tied the game up quick, but Timia Reynolds stole the lead with a layup. Elise Coberly and Mikayla Trombley added four points. Timia Reynolds came through with two back-to-back 3-pointers. Lochlain Corliss ended the first quarter with a layup. The final score would be 10-21.

The second quarter started out with Mikayla Trombley stealing the ball from Converse and then grabbing an offensive rebound. She added two points to the board. Genesis Jones was fouled and made both of her free throws. Ashlyn Loudermilk added the next four points. Mikayla Trombley made her first 3-pointer of the game. Avery Scarbrough cleared a jump shot and then got an offensive rebound to score two more points. Mikayla Trombley was fouled and would end the first half. The Lady Lions now held a 13-point lead with the score being 26-39.

Avery Scarbrough started out the third quarter with a jump shot. Lochlain Corliss scored her second 3-pointer. Coming around the corner with her second 3-pointer was Mikayla Trombley. Timia Reynolds put up two points and was fouled. She came to the line and cleared her free throw. The third quarter ended with Taylor Delasbour stealing the ball from Converse. She passed the ball to Mikayla Trombley who scored two points. The final score of the third quarter was 37-56.

The ball started out with Lady Lions in the fourth quarter. Avery Scarbrough put up a layup. She was followed by Taylor Delasbour. Marina Bendal scored her first two points of the night with tough defense from Converse all around her. Converse began fouling on the ladies. Clarissa Hopkins scored the last two points for the ladies due to a foul. She cleared both of her free throws and the game ended with a final score of 50-70.

The Lady Lions now have an overall record of 6-8, with a conference record of 4-6. They will play their next game Saturday Jan. 21st against King College. This game will begin at 2:00 P.M.
