The Lady Lions Win Against Barton College

Franklin Springs, GA- The Emmanuel Women's Basketball Team welcomed Barton College and persevered to win the game. The game ended with a final score of 62-69. Elise Coberly and Timia Reynolds led the team in scoring. Elise Coberly had 18-points and Timia Reynolds followed with 15-points. Mikayla Trombley pulled out the most rebounds with 12 total and was followed by Elise Coberly with 11 total rebounds.

Barton's defense started off the first quarter, yet Avery Scarbrough broke through scoring the first two points for the Lady Lions. Elise Coberly was fouled by Barton and completed both of her free throws. Lochlain Corliss stole the ball from Barton and a shot was missed. Luckily, Timia Reynolds snagged an offensive rebound, so Mikayla Trombley made a layup. Mikayla Trombley was fouled and completed one free throw to tie the game up 9-9. The game became tied again at 13-13. Ashlyn Loudermilk was fouled and her completed free throw would end the first quarter. The Lady Lions were now up 13-14.

The second quarter started out with a foul by the Lady Lions allowing Barton to be in the lead by one. Taylor Delasbour put up two points and was fouled by Barton. Taylor Delasbour cleared one free throw shot and regained the lead. The teams stayed close the rest of the quarter. Timia Reynolds was fouled and made both of her free throws. Avery Scarbrough snagged an offensive rebound to put up two points. Barton scored to end the first half of the game and would lead by three points, 29-26.

Timia Reynolds stole the ball from Barton and put up a layup to get the third quarter started. Elise Coberly and Avery Scarbrough both put up jump shots. Timia Reynolds shot, missed and rebounded her own shot to put it in the basket. The Lions now had a tied game, 34-34. Elise Coberly was fouled and cleared both of her free throws. Timia Reynolds and Elise Coberly broke through and kept the lead up for the ladies. Elise Coberly grabbed an offensive rebound and scored a layup. The Lady Lions were now leading 36-42. Taylor Delasbour ended the third quarter with two made free throws. The Lady Lions were up by three, 43-46.

Taylor Dealsbour put up a layup to start off the fourth quarter. Mikayla Trombley scored back-to-back layups and was followed by Timia Reynolds. Lochlain Corliss was fouled next and cleared both shots. She turned right around and made a layup. Timia Reynolds followed bringing the score up 55-62. The last minute of the game, Barton fouled three times on the ladies. Of the fouled were Lochlain Corliss, Mikayla Trombley, and Taylor Delasbour. After the free throws were made the game ended with a victory for your Lady Lions. The final score of the game was 62-69.

The Lady Lions now hold an overall record of 8-8, with a conference record of 6-6. The ladies will play their next three games away. The first game of that will be Friday Jan. 27th against Converse College. That game will begin at 5:30 P.M.
