Tigerville, SC- The Emmanuel Women's Basketball Team went up against North Greenville, but didn't come out on top. The ladies lost to the Crusaders 56-68. Mikayla Trombley led the Lady Lions in scoring with a total of 19-points and Ashlyn Loudermilk snagged the most rebounds of the game.
The first quarter started out slow for the ladies until Lochlain Corliss was fouled and put the first two points up. Next fouled was Taylor Delasbour and she made both of her free throws. The Crusaders were on a foul run when Genesis Jones was fouled twice and Mikayla Trombley was foluled following the first two fouls. Elise Coberly made a jump shot and then the Crusaders fouled Mikayla Trombley again. The first quarter ended with that and the score was 12-28.
Both teams played extreme defense allowing the Crusaders to only score four points in the first five minutes Avery Scarbrough was fouled by North Greenville and added two points to the board. Genesis Jones put up the first 3-pointer of the game. She was followed by a jump shot by Mikayla Trombley which would end the second quarter. The Lions were down 19-41.
Mikayla Trombley started out the third quarter with her first 3-pointer of the game. The Lady Lions needed a comeback if they were going to win this game, but if North Greenville kept fouling how they were it wouldn't be hard to. Avery Scarbrough was fouled and cleared her shots. Mikayla Trombley stole the ball from the Crusaders to put up a layup. She was fouled in the process and made her free throw. Mikayla Trombley would be fouled again and make her second 3-pointer of the game. Elise Coberly ended the third quarter with a jump shot. The Lions came back, but were still trailing 39-54.
The fourth quarter started out with a jump shot from Timia Reynolds. Mikayla Trombley pulled out a steal and put up a layup. Elise Coberly put up a jump shot and the Lady Lions were now down by only 11-points. Avery Scarbrough, Ashlyn Loudermilk, and Timia Reynolds were all fouled. Ashlyn Loudermilk made a jump shot and was fouled once more. She made her free throw. Mikayla Trombley ended the game with a jump shot and the final scored stayed at 56-68.
The Lady Lions now hold an overall record of 9-9 and a conference record of 7-7. The ladies have one more game on the road on Wednesday Feb. 1st at King. That game will begin at 5:30 P.M.
