Women's Basketball Overcome 19 Point Deficit To Defeat Barton

WILSON, N.C. - The Emmanuel College women's basketball team rallied back to defeat conference opponent Barton College, 81-77 on Saturday afternoon. 

Despite a staggering 43-24 lead at halftime and 14 more rebounds than the Lions, the Bulldog's couldn't stop the Emmanuel comeback in the second half. Senior Lochlain Corliss put up 21 of her 24 points for the night in the second half, while Sophomore Hanna Grogan added 14 more points to total 18. 

Emmanuel went on a 14 point run late in the third quarter that carried over into the fourth. A final layup by Corliss tied the score up at 62-62. The teams continued to exchange the lead until Corliss stole it away one last time with a successful free throw. The Bulldogs were forced to foul, allowing Emmanuel to cruise to an 81-77 victory after connecting most of their free throws.

Corliss ended the night leading the Lions with 24 points, 7 assists, and 7 rebounds. 

The Lions will continue action on Wednesday, December 12th with a conference game against North Greenville University in Greenville, South Carolina.
