Lady Lions Rally With Impressive Comeback to Defeat Barton College

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Emmanuel College women's basketball team defeated conference opponent Barton on Saturday afternoon, 76-66 in the Williamson Basketball Arena. This win marks the second win over Barton as the Lions defeated them 81-77 in their first meetup on December 8th. The Ladies now have a record of 11-5 overall, 6-3 conference.

The Lions found themselves in a hole early on in the game after a dominant Bulldog performance. Barton put up 46 points in the first half while converting 58.1% of their shots. By halftime the Lions trailed by 16 points.

Upon returning from halftime, the Lady Lions looked like a different team while they completely took control of the offense. The ladies had an astounding 70% conversion rate, including 5-5 from behind the three-point line. Emmanuel began catching up in the third quarter, outscoring their opponent 21-6. Finally, in the fourth quarter, the Lions took charge. A minute into the quarter, Sophomore Breanna Locke knocked down a three to take the first and last lead change of the game. The Lions continued to hammer down points, accumulating a large lead that the Bulldogs were unable to catch up to.

Four Lions put up double digits led behind Sophomore Hanna Grogan with 24 points. Senior Lochlain Corliss followed up with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Breanna Locke and Junior Ajah Taylor rounded out the top scorers with 13 and 11 points respectively.

The Lions will continue action on Monday, January 21st with a home game against North Greenville University at 5:30pm. The Lions lost 59-57 in their first meetup of the season.
