BRUNSWICK, GA. - The Emmanuel Women's Bowling Team earned another 1st place finish this past weekend at the South East Baker Challenge in Brunswick, GA. This win gave the EC Women their 4th tournament championship of the season, setting a new school record.
The one day tournament featured 4 of the nations top 30 teams, #10 Emmanuel, #20 SCAD Savannah, #21 Webber International, and #29 Florida State University. The Lady Lions bowled 9 - 4 game baker blocks on the day for a total of 36 games on the toughest lane condition they have seen all year.
Emmanuel got off to a slow start and found themselves in last place after the 1st block of competition. The lady Lions picked up the pace and got within 30 pins of 1st place after the 4th block, but after the 5th block they dropped back down to 4th place with just 16 games remaining. Once the 6th block ended EC moved into 3rd, and they would move into a tie for 1st with SCAD Savannah after block 7. Block 8 ended with SCAD Savannah sitting alone in 1st with Emmanuel 21 pins back. Emmanuel would move into 1st after game 34 and pulled away to secure the win in the final two games.
The Lady Lions will try to continue their winning streak as both teams will be traveling to Louisville this weekend for a pair of tournaments.
