Franklin Springs, GA - The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse Team has notched up their second victory of the year, with an 11-10 victory over Brevard College. The Lions started on the back foot after conceding a goal just 30 seconds into the game, but responded just two minutes later when Allie Brock converted off a Tara Larson set up. Brevard gained a 2-1 advantage before Lara Russel assisted Tara Larson with her first of the game in the 11th minute. Brevard hit the lead once again, before a nicely converted free position shot from Allie Brock tied the scores at 3-3. Seniors Haley Larson and Savannah Gratz then put their stamp on the match, each converting a goal to give the Lions a 6-5 advantage. Two goals in the last 5 minutes of the first half however, gave Brevard a 7-6 advantage at half time. When Brevard opened the scoring in the second half, claiming the first two goals, it appeared they had a handle on the game. The Lions did not give up though, and kept chipping away at the score, to get themselves back within a goal after second half goals to Tara Larson, Haley Larson and Aleah Marijanich. Brevard. Brevard looked to be in the clear with a 10-9 lead with just a minute on the clock, however the Lions were not finished yet. An unassisted goal to Haley Larson with 56 seconds on the clock tied the game up at 10-10, and it appeared the game would go to overtime. However with just 7 seconds left to go, Allie Brock scored from at UP to claim victory for the Lions! Brock finished with 3 goals, as did Haley Larson. Gratz and Tara Larson each had 2, while Aleah Marijanich had 1. Emma Pow went all 60 minutes in goal for the Lions and had 7 saves, while EC outscored Brevard 15-8 in draw controls, and 29-21 in shots and 31-26 in ground balls. The EC Women's Lacrosse team will take the field again at home on Tuesday evening at 5:30pm when they take on Ohio Northern University.
