Franklin Springs, GA – The Lady Lions hosted the Pfeiffer University Falcons for their first home game of the season. The Lady Lions played a dominant first half, scoring 7 goals and holding the falcons to 5 goals. The second half and the final score heavily favored the Falcons.
The Lions came out strong in the first half keeping the score even until the final 6 minutes of the half where they took the lead by two goals. In the second half, the Falcons scored 10 unanswered goals. The Lady Lions had three yellow cards issued, one coming in the first half to Aleah Marijanich, and two coming in the second half to Katie McCall and Emily Oliver. Also, the Lady Lions dominated draw controls by commanding 17 out of the 30 during the game.
On the offensive front, Tara Larson led the Lady Lions with 5 goals. Aleah Marijanich contributed 2 goals, and Hanna Hernandez and Allie Brock contributed one goal each. Lara Russell led the team with 2 assists, and Samantha Metzger led with 2 groundballs. Tara Larson had 12 out of the 17 draw controls for the Lady Lions.
Defensively, Kamaia Gaylen led the team in casued turnovers claiming 4 out of the team total of 17. In the goal for the entire 60 minutes, sophomore Tiana Machado had 8 saves out of 26 shots taken against her. She also was credited with 1 caused turnover. The team successfully completed 18-19 clears while only having 7 fouls.
The Lady Lions will be back in action on Saturday, February 18th at 1:00 PM at Brevard College.
