Lady Lions Face Newberry Wolves

Franklin Springs, GA – The Lady Lions hosted the Newberry College wolves. The Lady Lions played at a very similar level to the wolves, giving them a very tough game. Although it was a close game, the final score, 13-15, went to the Newberry Wolves.

The Lady Lions had an impressive number of 20 draw controls and 19 ground balls. In the first 10 minutes of the first half, they were winning 5-3 and the entire game it was very close.

Tara Larson played an impressive game being successful in a number of goals, draw controls, and ground balls. She was the most successful in shots, scoring a total of 5 goals. Next who followed her was Lara Russel, with 4 goals. Allie Brock and Hanna Hernandez completed the score with 2 goals each. Lara Russel was responsible for two of the assists made in the game. It was a great game for their offensive front.

At the goal for 37 minutes, sophomore Tiana Machado had 4 saves out of 13 shots taken against her. For the rest of the game, Emma Pow assumed the goal and she saved 4 out of 10 shots taken against her. The Lady Lions had just two yellow cards.

The Lady Lions will be back in action on Saturday, March 4th at 12:00 PM at Chowan.
