Lady Lions Continue Win Streak

Ferrum, VA– The Lady Lions played away against Ferrum College. The Lady Lions did not disappoint and showed one more time how great they are and the successful job they have been doing this season. They had a dominant win, winning with 21 goals against 6.

The Lady Lions suffered through the first goal with just 5 seconds of play from the other team, but they came strong after and scored 7 goals on the first half. They have been playing strong in the first half but they came out stronger in the second half scoring an impressive 14 goals. The Lady Lions had one yellow card issued to them, it came in the second half to Emily Oliver. Also, the Lady Lions dominated draw controls by commanding 18 out of the 27 during the game.

On the offensive front, Lara Russel led the Lady Lions with 6 goals. Tara Larson contributed 4 goals, Kamaia Gaylen  contributed 3 goals, Allie Brock, Katiana Aguilar, Aleah Marijanich and Katie McCall  contributed 2 goals each. They had the total of 7 assists and Allie Brock led the team with 2 assists. The team had 16 ground balls with Shannon Sapp leading with 3 groundballs. Tara Larson had 10 out of the 18 draw controls for the Lady Lions.

Defensively, the team had a total of 9 caused turnovers. In the goal for the entire 60 minutes, was sophomore Emma Pow who had 10 saves out of 16 shots taken against her. She also was credited with 2 ground balls. The team successfully completed 12-16 clears.

The Lady Lions will be back in action on Saturday, March 18th at 3:00 PM at Converse College to reach their third winning for their conference games.
