Lady Lions Win Conference Match UP

Spartanburg, SC – The Lady Lions played away against Converse College for their third win on conference games and their fourth consecutive win; The Lady Lions had a difficult job in the first half. The game was too tight and both teams played equally. The Lady Lions were trailing after the first half for 12-11. However, in the second half they come out strong and dominant winning the second half, 9-5, and the overall game 20-17. 

On the offensive front, Tara Larson led the Lady Lions with impressive 8 goals and 2 assists. Lara Russel contributed with 3 goals and she also, led the team with 6 assists. Together the team had extraordinary 47 groundballs.  Allie Brock  and Kamaia Gaylen  led with 6 groundballs each. Tara Larson did an amazing game having 11 out of the 20 draw controls for the Lady Lions. 

Defensively, Kamaia Gaylen led the team in caused turnovers claiming 5 out of the team total of 17.  In the goal in the first half, sophomore Tiana Machado  had 3 saves out of 15 shots taken against her and she also was responsible for 1 groundball. For the second half, sophomore Emma Pow had 3 saves out of 8 shots taken against her. The team had just one yellow card on the entire game, it was in the second half for Tara Larson.

The Lady Lions will be back in action on Friday, March 24th at 6:00 PM at home against North Greenville University for another conference game.
