FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Emmanuel College women's lacrosse team kicked off their season at home with two tough losses to Conference Carolinas opponents this weekend.
On Friday the Lady Lions fell to North Greenville University, 17-0. The strong Crusader offense commanded the field for the entire game while they held the Lions to only 7 total shots. Senior Tiana Machado tallied 8 saves.
On Saturday, the Lions had more success offensively, but were still defeated 21-9 by Erskine College. Emmanuel opened up the match with an early goal coming from Megan Shortt, assisted by Hanna Hernandez. Despite the strong start, the Lions found themselves facing a hefty deficit after the Flying Fleet retaliated with 9 straight goals. The Lions would go on to score 8 more goals by the end of the afternoon, but it wasn't enough to top the Fleet. Aleah Marijanich led the Lions with 5 goals. Hanna Hernandez and Megan Shortt put up 2 points apiece.
Next up, the Lions will take on Tusculum University at home on Tuesday, March 12th.
