Men's Wrestling Show Out At The Midwest Classic

Indianapolis, Indiana - The Emmanual College men's wrestling team had an impressive showing at the 38th annual Midwest Classic this past weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana. 

The 39-team field consisted of 15 of the top 25 ranked teams in division 2. The lions finished a very respectable 11th place, ahead of 7 ranked teams. Nine out of EC's 10 wrestlers won at least one match at the tournament , contributing to the overall team scores. 

Emmanuel was once again lead by the impressive performances of Jeremiah Lutz (149) and Cody Chaney (184). Both wrestlers navigated through a field of talented wrestlers to make the finals of the tournament, beating multiple nationally ranked opponents along the way. In his quarter final bout, Lutz had an exciting win over the 3rd ranked wrestler in division 2 by fall in the first period. Chaney's marquee win came in the semi finals, where he earned a win over the top ranked wrestler in division 2. Both men dropped hard fought matches in the finals to ultimately take 2nd. 

The Lions resume action on January 5th against King University for their conference opener in Bristol, TN.
