West Georgia, GA – The Emmanuel Lady Lions suffered a tough 5-1 loss at West Georgia tonight.
The Lions started off strong, with a good tactical approach in mind, however, the Wolves looked dangerous early and quickly took charge of the game by manoeuvring the ball well, and scoring a goal within the first eleven minutes of the game. The Wolves managed to get on the scoreboard again shortly after the first goal. Susana Abundiz scored the second goal with the assist by Katie Mitchell. The Lady Lions picked themselves up and strung together several good passing sequences and started to look more threatening and play better defence. However, just before the end of the first half, Katie Mitchell scored the third goal for the Wolves. T
he Lions responded quickly after the half time break eager to score their first goal with Hannah Watson, Jessie Denney, and freshman Elise Bornheimer all attempting shots, but coming unlucky. Meanwhile, goal keeper, Hannah Welch defending the goal well and saving a total of nine goals. The final two goals that were scored for the Wolves were scored by Mitchell and Abundiz. The Lions determined to not let the game end without a goal on the score board, scored their first goal just before the end of the second half. Hannah Watson, assisted by Stephanie Lamm scored the first and only goal for the Lions with an impressive top right corner goal.
This was a hard loss for the Lady Lions, but they will take to the field again at home against Belmont Abbey on Saturday 24th and 5:00PM. Good luck Lady Lions.
