WOMEN’S SWIMMING MOVES TO 3-0

Franklin Springs, GA – Women's swimming competed in a Quad meet at home against Point University, Campbellsville University and Bethel University on Saturday, October 8th, 2016 at Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, GA.

The women won all 11 events and Audrey Johnstone swam broke the EC school record in the 1000 freestyle by 15 seconds, swimming 10:55.51, which is currently the #12 NCAA Div. II time in the country.

STROKE
Duarte (2:18.34) finished 1st, Gonzalez (2:26.84) placed 3rd and Burtt (2:44.46) placed 7th in the 200 IM. In the 100 fly, Gonzalez (1:00.66) finished 1st, Duarte (1:06.00) placed 4th and Burtt (1:16.00) placed 7th. Tobo (1:01.21) finished 1st, Johnstone (1:07.28) placed 2nd and Whitaker (1:12.89) placed 5th in the 100 back. Tamblyn (1:12.14) finished 1st, Duarte (1:16.66) placed 2nd and Burtt (1:30.95) placed 6th in the 100 yard breast.

SPRINT
In the 50-yard free, Ostojska (25.91) finished 1st, Whitaker (28.08) placed 5th and Queen (30.82) placed 9th.
Ostojska (55.78) finished 1st, Dawes (56.77) placed 2nd and Curtright (1:13.02) placed 6th in the 100 free.
Tobo (2:00.35) finished 1st, Dawes (2:01.36) placed 2nd, and Queen (2:31.05) placed 6th in the 200 yard free.

DISTANCE
In the distance events Johnstone (10:55.51) finished 1st , Harkness (11:04.02) placed 2nd and Curtright (15:37.04) placed 7th in the 1000 yard free. In the 500 free, Calka (5:25.32) finished 1st, Harkness (5:32.87) placed 2nd and Curtright (7:41.98) placed 4th.

RELAYS

The women's meet began with the 200-yard medley relay; Calka, Tamblyn, Gonzalez, and Ostojska (1:54.69) placed 1st. The meet ended with the 200 free relay; Johnstone, Tamblyn, Dawes and Tobo (1:44.30) placed 1st, Calka, Whitaker, Queen, and Harkness (1:51.95) placed 4th.

Women's Captain, Paisley Whitaker, commented "I am very proud of this team we are working hard every day at practice and it is surely showing in our races."
 
Next up, the lady lions compete at home on Saturday October 22, 2016 in another Quad meet against Warren Wilson, Life University, and King University, with a 1:00pm start. GO LIONS!
