WOMEN’S SWIMMING FINISHES 1ST AT SEWANEE INVITE

DAY 2

SEWANEE, TN --- Saturday, October 29th, 2016. The lady lions come home victorious at the 2016 Sewanee University Invite, winning 8 out of 19 events and breaking 2 more EC school records.

Head Swim Coach, Allen Gilchrest commented; "This is our first Invite win as a women's team, and I am so proud of our ladies! Every swimmer on the team contributed to this win, scoring valuable points for the team. The team is seeing first-hand how important it is to train and compete as a team, in order to be victorious, what a blessing!"  

RELAYS
In the 200 medley relay (Tobo, Tamblyn, Gonzalez, Ostojska) placed 1st (1:55.81).
In the 200 free relay (Johnstone, Dawes, Harkness, Calka) placed 4th (1:46.29).

 

STROKE

In the 200 IM, Tobo placed 1st (2:18.62), Duarte 3rd (2:21.66), and Burtt 14th (2:54.74). In the 400 IM, Calka placed 1st (4:45.87) in EC school record time, and Duarte placed 2nd (4:55.00).

In the 100 fly, Johnstone finished 2nd (1:00.50), Gonzalez 3rd (1:01.26), and Harkness 12th (1:07.18). In the 100 back, Tobo (1:01.37) placed 1st, Ostojska 3rd (1:04.83), and Whitaker 13th (1:12.02). In the 100 breast, Tamblyn finished 5th (1:14.12), Duarte 10th (1:17.72), Queen 18th (1:28.99), and Burtt 20th (1:32.41).
 
In the 200 fly, Gonzalez placed 1st (2:11.70). In the 200 back, Tobo placed 1st, (2:10.39), Calka 2nd (2:12.27), and Whitaker 11th (2:39.10). In the 200 breast, Tamblyn finished 5th (2:39.89), and Burtt placed 16th (3:13.52).

 

DISTANCE
In the 200 free, Johnstone placed 2nd (2:01.22), Dawes 4th (2:03.76), Harkness 6th (2:05.00), Whitaker 16th  (2:16.06), and Curtright 21st (2:39.96). In the 500 free, Johnstone finished 1st (5:19.83), Dawes 4th (5:32.11), Harkness 5th (5:32.37), Gonzalez 11th (5:48.09), and Curtright 17th (7:35.65).


SPRINT

In the 50 free, Ostojska placed 4th (26.25), Dawes 8th (26.81), Tamblyn 9th (26.82), Queen 20th (29.34), and Curtright 28th (31.39). In the 100 free, Ostojska placed 3rd (56.05), and Queen placed 16th (1:04.57).

Senior captain, Paisley Whitaker, commented; "The meet was great! It is amazing to see what progress we have made as a team over the last 4 seasons."

Next up, the lady lions have their final home meet of the semester, this Saturday, November 5th at
1pm, in a dual meet against Berry College. GO LIONS!
