WOMEN’S SWIMMING MOVES TO 4-0

Franklin Springs, GA --- The lady lions defeated the Berry College Valkyries by a score of 165 to 94. The lady lions won 11 out of 14 events.

Head Swim Coach, Allen Gilchrest, commented; "Today was 5th year Senior Captain, Emma Tamblyn's, final home meet at EC. She finished in style, 3 firsts and 1 second, with her final swim setting the EC school record in the 200 breast (2:37.61). Emma has been such a blessing to our team and it has been my privilege and honor to coach her these past 4 years. We are so thankful to God for her, and can't wait to see what God has in store next, as she graduates from EC later this month!"    

 

Relays
In the 400 medley relay (Tobo, Tamblyn, Gonzalez, Ostojska) placed 1st (4:08.88), followed by Calka, Duarte, Harkness and Johnstone placing 2nd (4:16.61). In the 400 free relay (Tobo, Johnstone, Ostojska, Calka) placed 1st (3:47.24), followed by Dawes, Gonzalez, Harkness and Whitaker placing 2nd (3:59.62).

Sprint
In the 50 free, Tamblyn placed 1st (26.29), Queen 5th (29.34), and Burtt 6th (32.23). In the 100 free Ostojska placed 1st (56.43), Dawes 2nd (57.84), and Queen 6th (1:06.90).

 

Distance
In the 200 free, Ostojska placed 1st (2:02.05), Queen 3rd (2:25.14), and Curtright 5th (2:45.83). In the 500 free, Harkness placed 1st (5:31.78), Dawes 2nd (5:33.99), and Curtright 6th (7:33.16). In the 1000 free, Johnstone placed 1st (11:05.38), followed by Harkness in 2nd (11:20.96) and Dawes 3rd (11:21.88). 

 

Stroke
In the 100 fly, Johnstone placed 1st (1:00.10), Gonzalez 2nd (1:00.48), and Curtright 6th (1:36.47). In the 100 back, Tobo placed 1st (1:01.74), Whitaker 4th (1:10.60), and Curtright 6th (1:34.02). In the 100 breast, Tamblyn placed 2nd (1:12.78), Duarte 3rd (1:15.59), and Burtt 5th (1:29.59).

In the 200 fly, Gonzalez placed 1st (2:11.40), Calka 3rd (2:27.47). In the 200 back, Tobo finished 1st (2:10.52), Calka 2nd (2:12.19), and Whitaker 5th (2:46.83). In the 200 breast, Tamblyn placed 2nd (2:37.61) in EC school record time, Duarte placed 3rd, (2:37.61), and Burtt 6th (3:15.01). In the 200 IM, Duarte finished 2nd (2:20.07), Whitaker 5th (2:47.28), and Burtt 6th (2:52.06).
