WOMEN SWIMMING WINS 1ST CONFERENCE CHAMPS RELAY

Christiansburg, VA: On day 2 of the Appalachian Swimming Conference Championships, the women started off the evening by winning the 200 freestyle relay in 1:37.91. This was the first time the women have won a relay at conference in school history.

In the 200 free relay (Ribeiro, Ostojska, Johnstone, Monges placed 1st in 1:37.91. A new EC school record. 

In the 500 free, Audrey Johnstone placed 4th (5:16.49), Megan Dawes 6th (5:23.19), and Morgan Harkness 10th (5:20.42).

In the 200 IM, Anna Calka placed 5th (2:12.05), Diana Tobo 7th (2:13.58), and Sarita Duarte 13th (2:18.58).

In the 50 free, Juliana Ribeiro placed 5th (24.53) setting a new EC school record, Karolina Ostojska 10th (25.09).

In the 400 medley relay (Tobo, Ribeiro, Gonzalez, Ostosjka) placed 2nd in 3:59.42. Setting a new EC school record.

The women moved into second place in the team standings, and trail Brenau University by just 34 points. Tomorrow mornings events are 400IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back. GO LADY LIONS! 

Head Swim Coach, Allen Gilchrest; "The entire ladies team is swimming fast. To win our first conference relay and miss the conference record by .1 seconds, all 4 ladies going 24 for the 50 splits, to finishing the 400 medley relay under 4 minutes for second and Karolina anchoring the free in 53.3 for our fastest 100 free relay split ever, to our distance swimmers all placing in finals in the 500, We give God the glory!"
