WOMEN SWIMMING EARNS 11 SPOTS IN FINALS TONIGHT

Christiansburg, VA: Women's swimming competed in day 3 prelims this morning, in the 10th Annual Appalachian Swimming Conference Championships. 11 individual women finished in the top 16 and will compete in finals tonight. Freshmen, Clara Monges set 2 school records and 1 conference record. Freshmen, Juliana Ribeiro broke the EC school record in the 100 breast with a time of 1:08.41.

In the 400 IM, Anna Calka finished 3rd (4:46.31), Sarita Duarte 5th (4:50.82), Sarah Curtright 19th (7:06.89).


In the 100 fly, Clara Monges finished 1st (56.67) setting a new EC record and conference record. Laura Gonzalez finished 9th (1:00.74).

 

In the 200 free, Clara Monges finished 2nd (1:55.07) setting a new EC school record, Karolina Ostojska 6th (1:58.73), Megan Dawes 7th (1:59.72).


In the 100 breast, Juliana Ribeiro finished 1st (1:08.41), Denita-Sue Pieterse 11th (1:14.09), Anna Queen 16th (1:23.61).


In the 100 back, Diana Tobo finished 2nd (1:01.16), Paisley Whitaker 21st (1:08.00).


Senior captain, Diana Tobo; "I am really proud of my team, everyone did a really great job, you can see that practice is paying off, as it is shows in our results!"
