WOMEN SWIMMING EARNS 12 SPOTS IN FINALS TONIGHT

Christiansburg, VA: The Lady Lions had a great morning, finishing 1st in 2 events, 3rd in 2 events, and 12 ladies qualifying for finals tonight in the last session of the Appalachian Swimming Conference Championships.         2 more EC school records went down, as Clara Monges went 53.37 in the 100 free and Juliana Ribeiro took 3 seconds off the previous school record in the 200 breast with a 2:30.84.

 

In the 200 back, Diana Tobo finished 3rd (2:10.67), Anna Calka 4th (2:10.70), Paisley Whitaker 19th (2:34.50), and Sarah Curtright 23rd (3:21.30). 


In the 100 free, Clara Monges finished 1st (53.37), Karolina Ostojska 5th (54.00).


In the 200 breast, Juliana Ribeiro finished 3rd (2:30.84), Sarita Duarte 12th (2:39.55), Denita-Sue Pieterse 15th (2:42.13), and Anna Queen 21st (3:00.95).


In the 200 fly, Audrey Johnstone finished 1st (2:09.03), Laura Gonzalez 4th (2:11.85), and Emily Burtt 15th  (3:29.38).

Assistant Coach, Bernadette Audet commented; "I am so proud of this team and how far we have come, our upper classmen are swimming great and our freshmen are doing just awesome, this team is taking it to the next level!"
