Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Tennis Team hosted Barton College today to continue their conference competition this Spring.
The Lady Lions were hungry to earn another Conference win this season, but they had the Barton Bulldogs as opponents ahead of them this afternoon. Without wasting any time, the duo formed by Cipriano / Silva continue to show a tremendous success this Spring Season by earning the first point for the Lions today by a quick 8-1. On court #2, Raich / Kiderlen also did fall behind and with great plays at the net, the Lady Lions dispatched their opponents by 8-2. On Court #1, the #9 doubles team, O' Connor / Botella proved once again that they are a tough combination to be beaten. With several down the line shots from Botella and precise volleys from O'Connor, they gave Emmanuel the third possible doubles point.
With a comfortable 3-0 lead after doubles, Emmanuel did not think about slowing down at all this evening. #12 Fantine Botella was unloading fast forehands from the baseline and after not much long, Botella won by 6-0 6-2. EC got the clinch today by the hands of the Junior Katharina Kiderlen. With very smart plays and choosing to move her foe all over the court, Kiderlen faced no issues in earning a 6-3 6-2 win today. Emmanuel would still get three extra points today. First with the sophomore Victoria Silva who found no issues to down her opponent by 8-3. Next, the Senior Abi Muesse was just more patient and just waited for her foe to make mistakes to grab an 8-4 victory. Lastly, the Junior Pearlann Cipriano had to work extra hard today. With the Bulldog clearly more aggressive from both sides, the Lion had to run all over the court, but with precise lobs and counter attacks, Cipriano was able to win an eight point for EC by 7-5 6-3.
This marked the 2nd victory for the Lions Tennis Team in Conference Play this Season!
Coming up next, Emmanuel will be back on the road next weekend against another Conference opponent, the Belmont Abbey Crusaders! First serve is scheduled for 2:00PM!
