ATLANTA, Ga. - The Emmanuel College women's track and field team competed at the Emory Invitational in Atlanta this past weekend. It was Clara Heiss, Alisha Wright, and Casandra Teasley who made the most noise. Despite not making it to the finals in the 100 meter hurdles with her 15.98 semi-final time, Heiss finished ninth overall by increasing her college personal record and increased the program's outdoor record for the third time this outdoor season; fourth overall after indoor conference. She cleared a smooth 9'10 to conclude the day.
The next standout was junior Casandra Teasley. Teasley helped set a new season best and school record in the 4x100 meter relay with senior Deja Barthell, freshman Thalia Sutherland, and freshman Clara Heiss with a fourth place finish time of 48.04 coming out of lane eight. She then competed in the semi-finals of the 100 meter dash and came out finishing 8th with a 12.54, and then finished seventh in the finals with a 12.38 to lower her season best.
Junior Alisha Wright started the morning off in the semi-finals of the 100 meter hurdles and finished fifth with 15.30 but came back in the afternoon and lowered her personal and school record with a time of 14.70 to finish fifth overall.
Other highlighted performances were Thalia Sutherland lowering her college personal record to a 26.99 in the 200 meter dash. Alexa Quarles lowered her personal record in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:03.54. Erin Putnam lowered her personal record in the 800 meter run with a time of 3:03.90. Ashley George lowered her personal record to a 15.79 in the 100 meter hurdles. Briana Jordan increased her season best in shotput with a mark of 7.21 meters.
Next up, the 4x100 meter relay consisting of Barthell, Sutherland, Heiss, and Teasley will be competing at Florida Relays, Teasley was also invited in the 200 meter dash invitational.
