Lady Lions Volleyball Fall in Close Five Setter

 

Florence, SC - The Lady Lions volleyball team fell in a close five setter to UNC Pembroke at the Francis Marion Tournament. The Lady Lions got off to a slow start, dropping the first set 13-25; but were able to gain momentum, winning the second set 25-21. The momentum continued to go back and forth between both teams as the Braves took the third set 25-17, and the Lady Lions fought back to take the forth set 25-15. The Lady Lions went into a five setter for the first time this season and put up a great fight; however, they fell short losing the set 12-15. This loss has brought the Lady Lions record to 0-5 for the season. 

 Leading the Lady Lions with kills, aces, and blocks were Erica Burnham (12-2-3), Julie de Blanck (12-2-3), Sarah Neil (8-1-3), and Abby Bradford (8-2-1). Also leading the team in assists were Stepnanie Hardy with 23 and Brittany Scarbrough with 15. On top of Erica Burnham's other great stats, she had 11 digs with Bethany Winston getting 16, Sarah Neil with 13, and Brittany Scarbrough having 8. 
 Up next for the Lady Lions, they will play Newberry in the Francis Marion Tournament on September 9th, at 4:00 p.m.
