FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Emmanuel College Women's Volleyball Team took on the Erskine Flying Fleet at home on Wednesday night. Fresh off a four game tournament over the weekend, the Lady Lions hoped to capture another win.
Set one was a constant back and forth battle with a tied score at 19-19. An error on Erskine's part gave the Lions the lead, and they were able to hold onto it for the remainder of the set. A kill from Mia McKensey (#14) gave Emmanuel set point at 25-23.
In the second set, the ladies had their best start all season. Libero Aysha Avery (#21) went on a 10 point run, three of which were aces. Emmanuel dominated the second set with exceptional performances from Julie de Blanck (#9) and Jenna Woodruff (#23). The score for set two was 25-15.
In the third and final set, the Lady Lions had an even more impressive performance. The front line shut down most of Erskine's attempts with huge blocks coming from Julie de Blanck and Guro Key Froeberg (#3). Jenna Woodruff had the final kill of the game, taking the victory with a final score of 25-23, 25-15, 25-13.
The ladies next game will be on Saturday as they take on Belmont Abbey at home. The first serve is set for 2:00PM
