Women's Volleyball Shuts Down King University

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - Women's volleyball swept conference opponent King University on Friday night; 25-17, 25-16, 25-16.

In the first set, Emmanuel climbed to a quick 4-1 lead after a kill from Junior Stephanie Hardy and three errors from the Tornado. The teams would exchange a few more points before a kill from Senior Julie de Blanck would begin a four point run for the Lions. With a commanding lead Emmanuel would cruise to 25-17 in the first set.

The Tornado challenged the Lions early in the second set, gaining a 10-7 lead. The Lions then quickly fired back with three consecutive kills from Junior Mia McKensey, Julie de Blanck, and Sophomore Jenna Woodruff. From here Emmanuel would dominate with 15 more points while holding the Tornado to just 6. The Lions took set number two 25-16.

The third set was all Emmanuel who put down an impressive .538 hitting percentage. With zero errors and fourteen kills, the Lions had another smooth ride to a 25-16 victory.

Julie de Blanck led the team with 10 Kills and 7 total blocks. Freshman Mia Cotton tallied 5 block assists for a new career high.

This win brings the Lions overall record to 11-8 and conference record to 6-1.

The ladies will return to the court on Tuesday, October 9th when they take on Auburn-Montgomery in Montgomery, Alabama.
