MONTGOMERY, Al. - The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team increased their record to 12-8 after defeating Auburn-Montgomery in four sets on Tuesday night.
Junior Mia McKensey started off the night with a kill for the Lions. With the first point on the board, Emmanuel would follow up with a combination of kills and aces, putting up twelve points to the Warhawks' six. Auburn-Montgomery would strike back with a four point run before the Lions brought home the first set 25-17.
In the second set the Warhawks fired back with a dominant .344 hitting percentage compared to the Lions .143. With their healthiest set of the night, the host school put down 16 kills en route to a second set victory 25-20.
Emmanuel returned to take set number three in the most dominant victory of the night. While the Lions didn't have an outstanding performance at the net, they kept their errors down while the Warhawks struggled to hit positive, giving Emmanuel an easy 25-12 win.
The Lions brought home the fourth and final set with their best performance of the night, throwing down 15 kills with a .333 hitting percentage. Freshman Taylor Roberts delivered the final kill of the night, earning Emmanuel the 25-15 victory.
The Lions will take on Lander University at home on Thursday, October 11th for their next match.
