Volleyball Downs Southern Wesleyan For Another Conference Victory

CENTRAL, Sc. - Women's volleyball continued their win streak on Saturday with a 4 set victory over conference opponent Southern Wesleyan University. Against the Warriors, the Lions put down 52 kills with a .280 hitting percentage with scores of 25-8, 25-13, 23-25, 25-12.

The Lions dominated in the first two sets, including a commanding 25-8 victory in set number one.

The Warriors rallied with their best performance of the night in set number three. The Warriors improvement combined with Emmanuel having their poorest performance at the net led to SWU taking the set 23-25.

The fourth and final set was once again all Emmanuel with over twice as many kills as the Warriors and nearly one-tenth the amount of errors.

Freshman Mia Cotton had a big night with an astounding .588 hitting percentage on 11 kills, marking a career high. Senior Julie de Blanck led in kills with 15 on the Lions way to nearly doubling the warriors kills. Junior Stephanie Hardy put up 50 assists, breaking her season high record. On defense, Junior Aysha Avery scooped up one-third of the Lions digs with 24.

The Lions hope to add another conference win to their record on Thursday, October 18th when they take on Mount Olive University on the road.
