Women’s College Wrestling Nationals Championships are Underway

The 16th ranked Emmanuel College Women's wrestling team begins the fight for National Championships and All-American honors today in Oklahoma City, Okla. The first round of the championships is slated to start at 10:00 a.m. CT.  Twelve wrestlers will be battling through the double elimination bracket in hopes of finishing in the top eight of their respective weight class.  Leading the Lions wrestlers are senior returning All-American #7 ranked Cindy Calixto wrestling at 116lbs, stand-out freshman #8 ranked Abby Nette competing at 136lbs and freshman Maria Vidales at 109lbs.

The young Emmanuel wrestlers began their journey toward the championship with competition in early October, competing all over the country.  Countless hours of training, dieting, and focus have gone into their preparation for this weekend. 

"Our girls are ready to go. They've been working hard all season for this tournament.  We're ready to rock and roll", commented Link Davis.

The competition will continue over the weekend until the concluding with the championship finals at Saturday night.
