Ladies XC Qualifies for NCCAA Championships

Rock Hill, SC - The Lady Lions traveled to Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina for their second meet of the season.  The team was ready to get back to racing and improve upon their times from Montreat two weeks earlier.  The ladies took to the line with Division I, II, and NAIA competition.  Makayla Hewell led the way for the team, crossing the finish line in 19:16, placing 5th overall in the Non-Division I section.

Hewell was followed by Seniors Neely Hallman and Heidi Schreiber, Junior Kaylynn Rainey, and Senior Cana Jacques to round out the top five scorers for Emmanuel.  Sophomores Carli Broome and Erin Putnam rounded out the top seven runners, both improving significantly on their times one year ago at the same race.  As a team, the Lady Lions placed fourth in the Garnet Division (Non-Division I schools).  "I'm so excited to compare times this year to those of last year.  Our ladies really competed well today, and some even dropped whole minutes off from this same race last year!" praised Coach Hall.

With their team performance, the Lions have officially qualified for the NCCAA Cross Country Championships in Clinton, MS on November 12th
Look to see Emmanuel take the top seven runners and head to Louisville, KY for the Greater Louisville Classic on October 1st.
