Women's Cross Country Takes 10th at Great American Classic

CARY, Nc. - The Emmanuel College women's cross country team competed at the Nike hosted Great American Cross Country Festival on Saturday. Among the 14 competing schools, the Lady Lions finished 10th with a team score of 245 in the 5k.

Florida Atlantic University led the pack with five of their runners placing top ten.

Leading Emmanuel was Junior Fayth Woodward in 18th place with a time of 20:33.1. Sophomore Alexa Quarles finished with a time of 21:13.2 to take 27th place. Senior Carliann Broome , Junior Priscilla Gosnell, and Junior Kelbie Williams rounded out the Lion's five in 64th, 73rd and 75th respectively.

"I am extremely excited with the way our team raced this past weekend," said Head Coach Ryan Rosbury. "After coming off a hard week of training and a race the previous weekend, they were focused and ran tough. We are improving every day and I am excited to see what will happen in a few weeks at our conference meet."

The Lions will compete next at the Queens Invite on Friday, October 12th in Charlotte, North Carolina.
