Lions defeat Crusaders in conference play!

Tigerville, SC - The Lions came into the game with a 17-5 as their overall record after successfully defeating Limestone University on Wednesday night. The Lions and the Crusaders met earlier this season at the Jack and Jane Shaw athletic center, escaping away with a  65-56Victory. The stage was set as the Crusaders and Lions were ready to take the floor for an exciting game.

Steve Guinchard knocked down back-to-back threes for the Lions to open up the game and put the Loins on top. The Crusaders began to find their rhythm and work their way up to tie the game. The Lions responded by utilizing Kendrick Colvins intensive offense to work his way into the lane. From there the Lions continued to push the tempo and used their ball movement to break through the Crusaders defense for points.

With under 10 minutes remaining in the half the Crusaders called a time out and began to work the ball around for open shots. With each basket, the Crusaders began to climb closer and closer to getting back into the game. Kendrick Colvin continued to drive to the lane and help the lions finish the first half 47-39.

In the second half the Lions came out to extend their lead as they intensified their defense. The Crusaders responsed by utilizing Kroval McElroy to their advantage.

At the midway point of the half, the Loins built a double-digit advantage. The Lions continued to stretch their lead as the Crusaders were forced into contested shots. Both teams traded baskets back and forth. As the final buzzer sounded the Lions closed the game 83-75.

The Emmanuel men's basketball team will continue action at the Jack and Jane Shaw Athletic center Saturday evening against Lees McRae. Tip off is set at 4:00 p.m.
