Franklin Springs, Ga. – Both Emmanuel Basketball Teams are ready to make an impact at the NCCAA South Regional Tournament that kicks off today.
Point University will be the host for this year's tournament on the ladies side. All games will be held at the West Point Park Gymnasium on Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12.
The NCCAA south regionals will feature four teams - Emmanuel College, Bob Jones University from Greenville, S.C., Columbia International University from Columbia, S.C, and the host Point University. The Emmanuel College Lions (18-10) earned the top seed and will face the four-seeded Columbia International (7-17) in the first semifinal matchup on Friday at 4 p.m. The winner of that tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCCAA Division I National Tournament in Winona Lake, Ind. March 16-19.
The Lady Lions are ranked No. 6 in the latest NCCAA Division I Women's Basketball Top 10 Poll. This is the first encounter between the Lions and the Rams on the court this season.
Each participating team is asked to donate canned food items as part of the Christian Service Project, which will be distributed to those in need in the West Point area. Fans in attendance are encouraged to contribute to the food drive as well. The cost of admission will be $5 per person for each day.
The men's team will be traveling to Greenville, SC for their tournament. Bob Jones University will be serving as the host for this year's event. Emmanuel College captured the top seed followed by Carver College at the #2 seed.
The Lions tournament will also have four teams competing for the title – Emmanuel College, Carver College, from Atlanta, Ga, Columbia International University, from Columbia, S.C, and the host Bob Jones University, from Greenville, S.C.
Because the regional playoff is an NCCAA hosted event, each fan will be charged admission for the tournament. General admission is $3 and student tickets are $2. Children 12 and under will be admitted free of charge. Purchase your tickets online at bjubruins.com/tickets.
