Franklin Springs, GA- The Emmanuel Men's Basketball Team took on Brewton Parker at home this afternoon. The Lions dominated the Barons with a final score of 60-83. The top scorers of the game were Zach Vess and Ronnie Stanley, who also gained the most rebounds of the game. Following those two came Emerson McClung, Colton Collins, and Trevor Jain who all scored ten points each.
The first half of the game started out with a couple of missed shots by the Lions, but Emerson McClung was able to steal the ball from the Barons and score the first two points for Emmanuel. The Barons did not let the game stay tied at 2-2 for long, as they soon led the Lions 7-4. Kurtis Robinson added two points to the board with a jump shot and Emerson McClung followed by stealing the ball yet again from the Barons to put two more points on the board. The Lions were still down by two points, but Zach Vess came through with a layup to tie the game 8-8. The Barons retook the lead, and soon led the Lions 15-8. Emerson McClung was fouled and made one of his free throw shots, now bringing the score to 15-9. Kurtis Robinson stole the ball from the Barons passing it to Ronnie Stanley who made his first 3-pointer of the night and the first 3-pointer of the game. The Lions were now only down by three points, then Zach Lillie bridged that gap a little more by adding two points to the board. Ronnie Stanley was able to bring the Lions back into the lead with his second 3-pointer of the night, with an assist by Austin Greene. Adding to the 3-pointers was Colton Collins, with his first one of the game. The Lions were now up by five, with a score of 15-20. The Barons eventually caught back up to the Lions and tied the game 23-23. Zach Vess allowed the Lions to take over the lead against the Barons. Following him, was Emerson McClung and then Zach Vess scored another two points. Emerson McClung blocked a shot by the Barons allowing Austin Greene to grab the rebound. Austin Greene passed the ball to Ronnie Stanley where he made his third 3-pointer of the game. The Lions were now up 26-32. Emerson McClung and Zach Vess added a couple more points each, as well as Trevor Jain who scored his first five points of the game, including his first 3-pointer of the night. The first half ended with the Lions up by eleven points, with the score at 30-41.
The second half of the game started out with Zach Vess putting up the first four points. Colton Collins added two points also, due to a foul by the Barons. Austin Greene made his first 3-pointer of the night and the Lions now led by ten. Derek Vandiver brought the Lions up to an 18-point lead over the Barons with his two back-to-back 3-pointers, which were his first two of the game. Kurtis Robinson added two points to the board with a layup, with an assist by Ronnie Stanley. Ronnie Stanley made his fourth 3-pointer of the night bringing the Lions now to a 20-point lead, with the score being 46-66. Zach Lillie rebounded a missed shot by Trevor Jain allowing Colton Collins to score his second 3-pointer of the game. Colton Collins then rebounded a missed shot by the Barons passing to Trevor Jain who made his second 3-pointer. Following him was Zach Lillie, who made his first 3-pointer of the night. The Lions were now up to a 23-point lead over the Barons. Sam Turner added four points and Trevor Jain followed adding the last two points of the game. The Lions finished with a victory over Brewton Parker with an astounding final score being 60-83.
The Men's Basketball Team now holds an overall record of 6-4 and a conference record of 2-1. They will play at home on Monday Dec. 12th against Georgia Southwestern. That game will begin at 7:30 P.M.
