MILLEDGEVILLE, GA. – The Emmanuel College Men's Basketball team finished up the Bobcat Crossover Classic with a game against tournament host Georgia College. The Lions held their own against the Bobcats, but were unable to pull out with the victory. The Lions fell short 86-95 due to a slow start in the first half.
It seemed that Georgia College was going to keep a lead on the Lions after being up 0-6, but Emerson McClung put a stop to that after making a jump shot and getting fouled. Sam Turner and Jack Fitzpatrick made 3-pointers to bring the Lions up to 11-19. The Lions defense fell short as the first half came to an end. The Bobcats had a 24-point lead going into the second half.
Sam Turner made a layup for the Lions at the start of the second half. Brandon Simpson followed with his first 3-pointer of the night. The Lions stayed quiet on shooting, but held their defense down keeping the score steady at 31-57. Kurtis Robinson scores 3-points followed by Sam Turner with a 3-pointer. The Lions got fired up with a massive dunk over the Bobcats by Emerson McClung. Colton Collins came onto the court with back-to-back 3-pointers and free throws. The Lions kept putting points up, but the Bobcats held onto their early lead. The Lions had an intense comeback during the second half, but fell short to the Bobcats 86-95.
The Lions now hold an overall record of 0-2 after the Georgia College Tip-Off Classic Tournament to start their season. The Lions will be away for their next game on Tuesday November 14th. That game will be against Coker College and will begin at 7:00 PM.
