FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Emmanuel College men's basketball team defeated non-conference opponent Wingate University, 87-73, on Saturday evening in the Williamson Basketball Arena.
Senior Kendrick Colvin led the team with 14 points in the first half, commanding the lead for the majority of the half. Wingate would steal the lead a few times before the Lions took it back 38-37 going into half time.
When returning to the court, the Lions went 56.7% from the field, 40% from the three, and 73.3% from the free-throw line, beating the Bulldogs in every category. Freshman Kyler Ingram contributed 8 more points in the half, for a season high 12 points. Despite the Bulldogs pulling out one last lead four minutes into the second half, a successful three-point shot from Junior Nathan Williams would take the short lived lead away while the Lions cruised to an 87-73 victory.
Colvin had his first double-double of the season and a career high with 33 points and 19 rebounds. Senior Austin Greene followed behind with 16 points and 4 assists.
Next up for the Lions is an away game against Bob Jones University on Tuesday, November 27th.
