YOUNG HARRIS, GA. - The Emmanuel College men's basketball team continued action on Saturday afternoon against Queens University. Last time these two teams met was in the NCAA DII Southeast Regional Quarterfinals last season with Queens coming out on top 76-72. In todays matchup, the Royals captured the win again, 100-91.
Queens got off to a quick 11-0 lead before a three-pointer from Sophomore Michael Wright would put the Lions on the board. Queens would continue to knock down their shots, increasing their lead by 17 points. EC would rally back with a combined team effort to decrease their deficit to just 3 points with under three minutes left in the first half. One final push from the Royals saw 14 points compared to only 4 from the Lions, propelling them to a 53-40 lead at halftime.
The Lions improved their field goal percentage in the second half to 50% while outscoring their opponent 51-47. Despite their effort, EC was unable to break the Royals lead. Queens would close out the game with the 100-91 victory.
Next up, the Lions will head to the University of North Georgia on Wednesday, November 13th.
